Hey Winnipeg! What are you doing this weekend?  Check out this week's  Classic 107 Arts & Entertainment Calendar for some ideas.

The 2014 Concerts in the Cemetery Series kicks off Thursday night (July 10) at the Old St. James Anglican Church. Every Thursday night this month you’ll be treated to a summer concert of various types of music. Only one night of classical though, and that's opening night. Flutist Charmaine Bacon and cellist Blair Burns will be treating audiences to a mix of Baroque & 20th Century repertoire, including duos by Handel, Telemann and Villa-Lobosh. The two musicians will also be performing various solo pieces.

The performance begins at 7:30 PM (doors open at 7:00). Admission is $10.00 at the door.

The Winnipeg Art Gallery has some spectacular exhibits running this summer. Including an exhibit of Inuit Sculpture and Modernist Traditions. They also have an exhibit entitled European Renaissance & Baroque Art. From the WAG’s own collection, this is an exhibit that features art produced between the 16th and 18th centuries, originating from the leading artistic centres of Europe. This period was marked but important social and political change, and art itself underwent a major transformation. The Gallery is open every day except for Mondays from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Except for Fridays when the gallery is open until 9:00 PM.

Are you in the mood for some great live theatre? PTE and MTC may be done for the season but at Silver City Cineplex theatres you can catch London’s Royal National Theatre Productions live. This Saturday is not a live broadcast but rather an encore presentation of Olivier Award-winning playwright Alan Ayckbourn’s A Small Family Business.

Showtime is Saturday (July 12), 12:55 PM at Silver City Polo Park. Tickets are $23.00 for Adults with special pricing for seniors and adults.

Did you get out to Assinibione Park last weekend? Two jazz concert series are in full swing. The first, is Jazz in the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden every Sunday afternoon at 3:00 PM. This weekend it’s Jazz guitarist Mike Swickis.

So grab a chair, maybe a sun umbrella and head down to the beautiful Leo Mol Sculpture Garden Sunday (July 13) at 3:00 PM.

Later on in the evening it’s another great Jazz guitarist – Soren Reiff for Sunday Night Smooth Jazz at the Lyric. Classic 107’s own Michael Wolch will be hosting the evening and it all kicks off at 7:00 PM.

Don’t forget to tune in to Jazz After 9 on Friday night for a special preview of the concert with host Neil Coligan and Sunday Night Smooth Jazz at the Lyric Artistic Director Walle Larsson.

Those are some of the things happening in Winnipeg this weekend. Tune in to the Classic 107 Arts & Entertainment Calendar twice a day on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays with Claudia Garcia de la Huerta.
