The St. James Civic Centre is expanding, and the city wants area residents' input on the final design.

Right now, the popular recreation centre is home to an indoor ice hockey arena, a swimming pool an auditorium and various other multipurpose rooms.

The facility, which recently underwent upgrades is scheduled for an expansion, which will include new multi-purpose and meeting rooms, a studio, a new kitchen, an expanded viewing area for the swimming pool, administrative space and shared program space for the St. James Assiniboia 55+ Centre, improvements to the hall, main building entry, and washrooms and improvements to the parking lot.

The city is now inviting area residents to an information session to view the final design and see how the public feels about the changes.

The final design can be viewed on the project webpage or at the information session on May 16, 2024, from 4 p.m.-7 p.m.

Construction is expected to start this winter and finish in fall 2026.
