The southern part of the province is expecting a fresh blanket of snow Monday night into Tuesday.

“We have this low pressure system bringing us snow from Alberta for tonight into tomorrow,” says Environment Canada meteorologist Kyle McAulay.

The City of Winnipeg is under a snowfall warning, expecting between 10 and 15 centimetres to fall. However, communities such as Dauphin, Roblin, and others in the Manitoba Parkland could see accumulations exceeding the 20cm mark by the time the system moves on.

An arctic ridge of pressure is expected to move in after the storm bringing with it frigid temperatures and windy conditions — gusting up to 70 km/h at times Tuesday into Wednesday.

“We get some fairly cold temperatures again,” according to McAulay. Though the cold clear days shouldn’t last too long.

“Later on this week temperatures warm up to the mid-minus single digits.”
