This week, we here at Classic 107 have been hearing about the Rosamunde Summer Music Academy and Festival.

We've welcomed distinguished guest faculty to the studio as well as a commissioned composer alongside the co-founder and artistic director.

On Wednesday morning, Classic 107 was treated to a 107 LIVE! performance by one of Rosamunde’s student participants: cellist Logan Smith.

A student of WSO Principal Cellist Yuri Hooker, the 13-year-old Smith is in the midst of his first year at Rosamunde, enrolled in the “Core Program.”

Joining him in studio were his elder sister Ava, a violinist/violist who returns to Rosamunde and mom, Hannah, who is part of this year’s faculty, working as a collaborative pianist.

The Rosamunde Summer Music Academy and Festival runs from August 20 through 25.

Open to the public, student performances take place – weather permitting – outdoors in the gardens at the Leaf in Assiniboine Park.

The Core Program Solo Recitals are on Thursday August 24, 5:00 p.m. with the Mini Rosie & Core Program Chamber Music and Orchestra Concerts on Friday August 25, 1:30 p.m.

If the weather conditions are unfavorable, concerts will be held in the Laudamus Auditorium at CMU (500 Shaftesbury Blvd).
