It’s not every morning we get to welcome a choir into the Classic 107 studio but that was indeed the case on Morning Light.

Under the direction of Scott Reimer, the 12-voice MBCI Chamber Singers performed a pair of well-known tunes: “Orange Colored Sky,” most famously sung by Nat King Cole, and an arrangement of Elvis Presley’s “I can’t help falling in love.”

Tackling a wide variety of repertoire, the Chamber Singers consist of students from grades 10 through 12 enrolled at Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute. From pop songs and jazz standards to traditional choral works, the ensemble demonstrates a high level of musicianship and artistry, while also encouraging singers to take on leadership roles in the broader choral community at MBCI.

In the full interview, hear more about the Chamber Singers' year thus far and learn details on upcoming performances, including a production of "Shrek The Musical!" running from April 26 – 29 at Jubilee Place Auditorium.
