An 18-year-old man is dead after being struck by a vehicle over the weekend. 

Winnipeg police were called to the intersection of Notre Dame Avenue and Cecil Street at 6 a.m. on Saturday, where they found a critically injured man. He was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he died of his injuries.

The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and spoke with officers.

Through their investigation, police have determined the victim had run in front of the involved vehicle, which was being driven southbound on Notre Dame Avenue approaching Cecil Street. The vehicle collided with the pedestrian, resulting in life-altering injuries. The involved driver stopped his vehicle, called police and provided emergency medical care to the victim until an ambulance arrived. The driver remained on scene and spoke with officers.
