Speed is believed to be a factor in a single-vehicle crash that claimed the lives of two people and left two others in hospital.

On Sunday, at 11:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Henderson Highway (Provincial Road 204), approximately six kilometres north of Highway 44, in the RM of St. Clements.

Investigators say the vehicle, with four occupants, was travelling northbound on Henderson Highway when it lost control, entered a ditch, rolled and hit a utility pole.

The 18-year-old male driver, from the RM of St Clements, and an 18-year-old female passenger, from Tyndall, were pronounced deceased at the scene. The two other occupants, a 17-year-old male and a 15-year-old female, were both transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Selkirk RCMP, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
