As of Wednesday, the number of Manitobans in ICU with COVID-19 is 29. This is down from 31 on Tuesday. The number of Manitobans in hospital with COVID-19 is 543. This is down from 553 on Tuesday. When it comes to hospitalizations and ICU admissions, provincial officials have indicated that many of those in hospital and ICU are there for other medical reasons but then also tested positive for COVID-19.

Three more deaths were reported in the province on Wednesday:

  • a female in her 70s from Interlake-Eastern health region
  • a female in her 60s from Southern Health
  • a male in his 70s from the Northern health region

Public health highlights the following COVID-19 data trends for the week ending Feb. 17. People who are not fully vaccinated are four times as likely to be hospitalized with COVID-19, seven times as likely to be admitted to an intensive care unit and eight times as likely to die with COVID-19. Case and risk by vaccination status data is updated each Wednesday.

  • Health Sciences Centre, GB3, Winnipeg;
  • Golden Door Geriatric Centre, Winnipeg;
  • Tudor House personal care home, Selkirk;
  • Red River Place personal care home, Selkirk;
  • Betel Home personal care home, Selkirk;
  • Deloraine Health Centre, Deloraine; and
  • Russell Health Centre, Russell.

The Manitoba government is also providing an update on ongoing enforcement efforts to protect Manitobans from the spread of COVID-19. A total of 1,564 inspections occurred, which resulted in nine warnings and six tickets issued for the week of Feb. 14 to 20 including:

  • two $1,296 tickets to individuals;
  • three $298 tickets to individuals for failure to wear a mask in an indoor public place; and
  • one $5,000 ticket to a business.
