With the Winnipeg Jets on their mandated five-day break, lot of Winnipeggers may be looking for activities to fill their time this week.

The Jets aren't back in game action until Saturday in Calgary, and the Manitoba Moose don't play until Friday night, when they host the Texas Stars.

With both teams on top of their respective divisions, it would be easy for Winnipeggers to get down in the dumps knowing they won't be able to see either team play for a lengthy amount of time. But with the warmer weather expected to hit the city in the coming days, there are plenty of activities you can take part in.

Here are five things to do this week that don't include watching professional hockey:

Skate on the River

The Red River Mutual Trail is open for a lengthy stretch at The Forks and the nice weather this week will make for perfect skating conditions. While you're there, you can head to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights to check out some of their new exhibits or take in the new Ice Castles

Comedy at The Handsome Daughter

Sirius XM Top Comic winner Gavin Matts will be performing two shows at The Handsome Daughter on Thursday, Jan. 18. Tickets are only $15 and can be purchased at ticketfly.com.
