A lot of kids in southern Manitoba will be celebrating the first snow day of the year, today.

Conditions in southwestern and central Manitoba worsened last night as a Colorado low continued to move through the province. A number of highways in the Winkler and Altona region were closed overnight due to poor conditions but have since reopened.

However, tough driving conditions remain on most highways, and a blowing snow advisory is also affecting the above regions.

As of 6:30 a.m. nine school divisions had already called off classes for the day and more closures continue to come in. You can find the up-to-the-minute list of closures and cancellations on the Road Reports & Cancellations page linked below.
