Expect nothing but the best on Saturday evening at the Centennial Concert Hall.

Beloved composers Mozart, Bizet, Puccini, and Verdi sung by some of Canada's brightest opera stars: Andriana Chuchman, Catherine Daniel, Lizzy Hoyt, David Pomeroy and James Westman.

"We thought what a better way to end the season with lots of familiar repertoire," says Manitoba Opera General Director and CEO Larry Desrochers. "Just such a great array of artists just singing hit after hit. It should be fun!"

After postponing Rossini's La Cenerentola to the fall of 2022, a gala concert was deemed to be the safer option in the midst of continued uncertainty with coronavirus.

"By doing a concert, reducing the number of people involved, it seemed to be a much less risky scenario," says Desrochers, who notes that a full opera production costs in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

In addition to the renowned cast of singers, the gala concert will feature the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Tyrone Patterson plus a special guest host offering a singer's perspective on the music!

Hear more about the artists, the music they'll be singing, plus an opportunity to dust off the fancy duds in the full conversation with Larry Desrochers!
