Four Winnipeg firefighters have descended from the rooftop of Station 4 in Osborne village after spending three nights camping on top of the fire hall.

It was all part of the 11th annual Firefighter Campout, an event hosted by the United Firefighters of Winnipeg and Muscular Dystrophy Canada to raise funds and awareness for the neuromuscular disease.

The group collected funds using a boot on a rope. Several firefighters also took to the streets during rush hour to collect funds.

This year's goal was to raise $40,000, and they surpassed that thanks to generous Winnipeggers.

Since it started, Winnipeg Firefighters have raised over $1 million.
