Zach Benson recorded a hat trick and one assist as the Winnipeg Ice cruised past the lowly Spokane Chiefs 6-3 on Friday.

Conor Geekie, with two goals and one assist, and Vladislav Shilo also scored for Winnipeg (24-4-0), which has won two in a row. Daniel Hauser made 25 saves.

Tommaso De Luca scored two goals while Carter Streek added the other for Spokane (5-19-0-1). Cooper Michaluk stopped 38-of-43 shots.

Entering the third period tied at 2-2, Benson and Geekie each scored their second of the night to flip the momentum of the game.

After De Luca made it a 4-3 game a few minutes later, Benson capped his hat trick with a power play marker at 16:53 of the final frame before Shilo added an empty netter under two minutes later. 

The Ice return to action Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m. at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena versus the Regina Pats.
