The O. Koshetz Choir helped ring in the new year (according to the Old Calendar) a few days early in the 5pm hour of the Diamond Lane! Missed the interview and performance? Find it here!

The O. Koshetz Choir of Winnipeg is a unique Ukrainian Canadian cultural institution. For nearly three quarters of a century, this amateur choir has been a highly successful vehicle for showcasing and propagating the rich Ukrainian choral tradition in Canada and in other parts of the world. In this sense, the ethno-cultural aspect of the choir represents a political dimension that transcends mere choral entertainment. From its beginnings, the choir has been a conscious musical ambassador. Its sense of mission has focused on the fostering of Ukrainian national consciousness and the promotion of the ideal of Ukrainian independent statehood. These objectives have been reflected in the choir’s rich repertoire which effectively combines the wide range of Ukrainian choral music — folk, ritualistic, liturgical and classical.

Under the direction of Miroslava Paches, members of O. Koshetz choir will be in the studio ahead of their upcoming performance as part of the Oseredok Festival of Carols. For more information, click HERE
