The Winnipeg Football Club will be honouring breast cancer survivors at Investors Group Field this Friday as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers take on the Hamilton Tiger Cats.

The club is donating 100 tickets to survivors and their families through the Canadian Cancer Society.

"This is one our fans look forward too every year and so do we," said Kristin Cuma, community relations coordinator for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. "Almost everybody has been touched by this in one way or another so it's really important for us to honour the survivors on the field and in the moment."

"It's a chance for us to celebrate everything they've been through."

Cuma says in addition to the 100 survivors honoured on the field prior to the game, the anthem singer and the person raising the "13th man flag" at the beginning of the game are also breast cancer survivors.

"We're really trying to incorporate a way to honour people who have been through a lot in a lot of different ways in our game that day," said Cuma.

Cuma says volunteers from the Canadian Cancer Society will sell pink Blue Bomber merchandise at kiosks throughout the stadium as well as in the Bomber store on game day. Partial proceeds from merchandise sales will go to the Canadian Cancer Society. Other volunteers will be outside the stadium near gate one and the tailgate area to collect cash donations.

Some of the pink items available include toques, scarves, mittens, eyeblack, hoodies and t-shirts to name a few.

If you want to purchase tickets you can go to bluebomber.com/pink and use the promo code BBPINK. A portion of these ticket sales will also go to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Kickoff between the Bombers and Tiger Cats is slated for 7:30 pm on Oct. 6, 2017.
