Tonight (Dec 06) marks the next concert in Winnipeg’s International Recital & Chamber Music Concert Series, Virtuosi. It’s called ‘My Favourite Key’ and it features the Kim piano Duo made up of Michael and Kyung Kim.

They are accompanied by the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra String Quintet. Created by Michael Kim, the programme chronicles how a composer’s choice of key signature influences the creative process and shapes the cognitive and emotional perceptions of the audience.

“Ranging from the innocent purity of C major, the triumph and victory of D major, and the noble grandeur of E flat major, to the languishing of C minor and the tragic pathos of F minor”

Classic 107's Claudia Garcia de la Huerta sat down with the musical duo to learn more about where this idea of 'musical keys' came from.

There are two concerts, tonight at 8:00 PM in Eckardt-Gramtté Hall at the University of Winnipeg and then again tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 PM. For tickets call the Virtuosi Box Office at 204.786.9000 or email virtuosi.concerts@gmail.com.
