As stated by the RCMP:

On February 3, 2023, at 3:05 am, Russell RCMP received a report of a break and enter in progress at a residence located on Main Street in Rossburn.

Officers attended and were advised that two subjects were first heard outside when one of them forcefully broke into the home. The homeowner contacted the police and the suspects fled on foot. No injuries were reported.

Patrols made in the area resulted in the arrest of a 32-year-old male, from Winnipeg, who was found nearby and stated he was with the other suspect but they were attempting to seek shelter from the cold as he was clearly observed to not be dressed appropriately for the weather.

A further search of the area, with the assistance of Police Dog Services (PDS), failed to locate the second suspect. The 32-year-old, who was believed to be under the influence of drugs, was lodged in cells overnight and released the following morning without charge.

On February 4, as the investigation continued, information was received that led to the drafting of a search warrant for a residence located on Crocus Road in Rossburn.

The execution of the search warrant led to the discovery and seizure of approximately 188 grams of cocaine, 732 grams of methamphetamine, two loaded restricted firearms, ammunition, cell phones and other drug-related paraphernalia.

Officers arrested a 23-year-old female and a 25-year-old male on the scene, both from Winnipeg, who was taken into police custody and later released for court scheduled May 23, 2023, in Rossburn.

Russell RCMP continues to investigate.
