The intimacy of small-ensemble acapella singing presented by some of the most in-demand, seasoned choristers in town, makes Proximus 5 ones to watch – and, most especially, hear.

Thankfully, this weekend the group – made up by Scott Reimer, Dan Rochegood, Paul Bruch-Wiens, Jereme Wall and James Magnus-Johnson – offers Winnipeg audiences an opportunity to indulge in their glorious sound in a candlelit concert of classic Christmas carols and new arrangements.

Spanning eras and genres, the repertoire presented by Proximus 5 is eclectic in the best sense. For instance: the great Renaissance composer Thomas Tallis paired next to modern-day vocal supergroup Pentatonix. Other selections include works by Ola Gjeilo, Morten Lauridsen and arrangements done by Proximus 5 members Scott Reimer and Dan Rochegood.

The concert takes place is the glorious acoustic of All Saints Anglican Church (521 Broadway) on Saturday, December 9, beginning at 7 p.m. Entry is pay what you can.
