Traffic is flowing once again for motorists along a busy intersection east of Winnipeg on Wednesday morning.

According to Manitoba Infrastructure, the westbound lanes of Highway 1 had been closed at Highway 207, also known as Deacon's corner, following the collision after 4 a.m.

The closure cause significant delays for commuters who rerouted northbound down Highway 207 to get to the Perimeter Highway and into Winnipeg during the morning rush hour.

Manitoba Infrastructure sent out another notice to the media at 8:13 a.m. announcing that the highway has now reopened. Callers to the station say that traffic is moving smoothly through the area, now.

There is no word at this time on the nature of the collision or any injuries of those involved. The highway was closed for approximately four hours while emergency crews responded and police investigated the scene.

Construction in the area had traffic reduced to one lane in all directions. The RCMP sent out warnings last week that they were watching for speeders in the zone after dealing with a number of issues.
