What do classical music and the Winnipeg Jets have in common? Why is a film composer flying in from Los Angeles for the opening Jets' game of the season? And how does the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra fit in to all of this? Watch our interview with Shawn Pierce here!

Here is the answer to all those questions:

Shawn Pierce (L.A. composer, producer, editor, songwriter, performer, engineer) and The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra have been asked by the Winnipeg Jets to compose and record the theme song for their 2016/2017 season. This Thursday, October 13th at the opening game, The Winnipeg Jets will unveil their new theme song for the game opening video. The video and song will be played at every home game, and according to Mark Chipman, chairman of True North Sports & Entertainment, "the opening video for our game sets the tone to energize our fans."

Shawn has worked on over 200 albums, many television shows for CTV, ABC, FX, and has earned a Grammy nomination, 5 Juno awards, 22 Juno nominations plus 2 WCMA's and 12 WCMA nominations. Alexander Mickelthwate, WSO music director, said "the Jets told us they wanted something epic and we immediately thought of Shawn Pierce. I don't think we can describe his music as anything other than epic."

So, if you are a fan of classical music, the WSO, television theme songs, or the Winnipeg Jets, tune in to get all the details about the song you will be hearing and probably humming all season long!
