Manitoba's five-day COVID-19 rate has lowered.

There are 183 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, bringing the total number of cases to 67,275.

New cases by health region include:

  • 60 in Southern, 46 people not fully vaccinated
  • 44 in Prairie Mountain, 33 people not vaccinated
  • 38 in Winnipeg, 18 people not vaccinated
  • 34 in Northern, 18 people not vaccinated
  • seven in Interlake-Eastern, four people not fully vaccinated

Manitoba's five-day test positivity rate is 5.5 per cent, and Winnipeg's rate is 2.5 per cent.

Five more people have died with all but one person from Southern Health. This brings the total number of deaths to 1,304.

This week's deaths include:

  • a female in her 50s from Interlake-Eastern health region (reported Tuesday)
  • a female in her 80s from the Prairie Mountain Health region and linked to the unspecified variant of concern (reported Tuesday)
  • a female in her 70s from Southern Health-Santé Sud and linked to the unspecified variant of concern (reported Tuesday)
  • a male in his 50s from Southern Health-Santé Sud (reported Tuesday)
  • a male in his 60 from Southern Health-Santé Sud and linked to the unspecified variant of concern (reported Wednesday)
  • a female in her 70s from the Winnipeg health region and linked to the unspecified variant of concern (reported Wednesday)
  • a female in her 80 from Southern Health-Santé Sud and linked to an outbreak at Third Crossing Manor (reported Wednesday)
  • a female in her 70s from the Prairie Mountain Health region, linked to an outbreak at the Benito Personal Care Home and linked to an unspecified variant of concern (reported Thursday)
  • a male in his 70s from the Prairie Mountain Health region (reported Thursday)
  • a female in her 80s from the Prairie Mountain Health region, linked to an outbreak at the Russell Health Centre and Russell Personal Care Home, and linked to an unspecified variant of concern (reported Thursday)
  • a male in his 90s from the Winnipeg health region and linked to an outbreak at Holy Family Home (reported Thursday)
  • a female in her 100s from the Winnipeg health region and linked to an unspecified variant of concern (reported Thursday)

 

Outbreaks

Salem Home personal care home in Winkler's Evergreen unit and the Geri-Rehab unit at Seven Oaks General Hospital's 4 Unit 8-12 in Winnipeg are in an outbreak. They have been moved to critical (red) level on the Pandemic Response System.

Three schools have classes that have moved online including:

  • Ralph Maybank School, Grade 5/6 class, in Winnipeg
  • J. R. Reid School, Grade 4 class, in Brandon
  • St. Alphonsus School, Grade 5 class, in Winnipeg

The schools have been moved to Restricted (Orange) level on the Pandemic Response System.

Many schools are no longer in an outbreak including:

  • New Era School, Grade 4/5
  • École South Pointe School, Grade 2
  • Ralph Maybank School, Grade 2/3
  • Stony Mountain Elementary, Grade 5/6
  • Westdale Junior High, Grade 6-1

The outbreak at Russell Health Centre is over.

The testing site at 1181 Portage Avenue is closing on Friday.

 

Hospitalizations

There are 136 people in the hospital de to COVID-19, with 86 of those patients no longer being infectious.

In intensive care, there are 24 people, with 17 having active cases.

 

Enforcement

A total of 21 warnings and 33 tickets were given out by COVID-19 enforcement officials.

Tickets include:

  • 16 $298 tickets to individuals for failure to wear a mask in an indoor public place
  • seven $1,443 tickets to individuals for the Federal Quarantine Act
  • five $1,296 tickets to individuals
  • three $8,550 tickets to individuals for the Federal Quarantine Act
  • two $5,000 tickets to a business
