Winnipeg fire crews are busy Wednesday morning battling a fire at a church in Elmwood.
The fire broke out just before 4 a.m. at the Spanish Church of God Pentecost at the corner of Watt Street and Tweed Avenue.
When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the building. They were unable to enter the church and were forced to fight the fire from the exterior using aerial ladders and handlines.
One firefighter was injured while on scene. They were transported to hospital in stable condition.
No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not currently available; however, the building has partially collapsed and is expected to be a complete loss.
