No one was injured following a fire Thursday in River Heights that spread to several cars and a condo building.

Shortly after 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service received a report of a vehicle fire outside a two-storey, multi-family condo building in the 100 block of Niagra Street.

When crews arrived at the scene, they discovered several cars were on fire. While extinguishing the fire, firefighters learned the flames had spread to a nearby condo building.

It took nearly two hours for crews to get the fire under control.

Most of the people living in the building evacuated before crews arrived at the scene. The rest were escorted out by firefighters.

No injuries were reported.

The City of Winnipeg's Emergency Social Services team helped displaced residents find temporary accommodations.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
