Winnipeg fire crews were kept busy Monday battling a house fire in the city's West End.

The blaze broke out just before 5:30 a.m. in a vacant single-storey home in the 400 block of Victor Street, just north of Ellice Avenue.

At the scene, crews saw heavy smoke coming from the house. Firefighters attacked the fire from outside the house until it was safe to enter.

The WFPS ordered an emergency demolition for this building due to its structural instability and to ensure firefighters had access to the remaining small areas of fire within the structure.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The house is a total loss.
