A First Nations advocacy group in Manitoba is calling on the RCMP to open criminal investigations into all residential schools in Canada.

The call comes after Manitoba RCMP revealed they have been investigating allegations of sexual abuse at the Fort Alexander Residential School, northeast of Winnipeg, for more than a decade.

The Southern Chiefs' Organization says the abuse wasn't limited to Fort Alexander and those responsible must be thoroughly investigated and brought to justice.

SCO Grand Chief Jerry Daniels says not only are the investigations warranted, but they are also critical in helping all First Nation people fully heal.
