Economic Development Winnipeg says nearly 18,000 people hit the streets of downtown Winnipeg to watch the Jets do battle with the Nashville Predators on Thursday night.

They had expanded the Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party to accommodate 20,000 people.

Unfortunately, those who showed up left disappointed after the Predators held the Jets off in a 2-1 victory, sending the series back to Nashville tied at two games a piece.

Winnipeg Police Public Information Officer, Cst. Rob Carver, is also a member of the Crowd Management Unit and says once again for the most part, people were well-behaved.

"Some people had to be removed because they were getting a bit obnoxious," Carver said. "Everyone complied. They walked off. Security walked with them and we walked behind them."

"I've been doing this for a long time and I was pleasantly surprised with how cooperative everyone was."

Carver did say there were a few incidents in the downtown area last night, but none of them were directly related to the street party.

Game five of the series goes Saturday, May 5 in Nashville with an 8:30 p.m. puck drop.

That game will be pivotal for the Jets. If they win they will return home for game six on Monday with a chance to win the series. If they lose, they will have to win on Monday to force a deciding game seven in Nashville.

Economic Development Winnipeg says it is not considering an expansion for the street party for game six, but it will likely expand should the Jets make it to the next round of the playoffs.
