Two people are in hospital after they tried to assist an older woman being robbed in Winnipeg yesterday evening. 

On Monday evening just after 9:00 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 600 block of Balmoral Street for a report of an assault.

Upon arrival, the officers located two injured individuals and began administering medical care. A female in her 50s was transported to a hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to a stable condition. A male in his 50s was transported to a hospital in stable condition.

It is believed that the two victims were bystanders in the area when they observed a female suspect attempting to rob an elderly lady. The pair intervened and were assaulted (with a weapon) by the suspect – with both victims suffering significant injuries. The suspect then fled.
