Mark Scheifele was in the captain's chair Friday night as the Winnipeg Jets bombarded the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Scheifele collected two goals against Sidney Crosby and teammates, including the game-winner.

“That was probably about one the best games we’ve played all year,” Jets coach Rick Bowness told reporters after the game. "It really was, in terms of how we want to play and how you can be successful moving forward. Certainly no passengers tonight. Everyone contributed.”

Nikolaj Ehlers also picked up a goal, along with Blake Wheeler who also had an assist on Scheifele's first goal. Kyle Conner assisted on Ehler's goal which helped him extend his points streak to nine games.

“Those are obviously big,” Scheifele said. "Then in the third period, we buckled down, we did the right thing. We got the puck deep. … If we play like that, we’re hard to beat.”

Backup goalie David Rittich got the start and made 22 saves for his second win in under a week.

The Jets have now won seven of their last eight games. As the season approaches the halfway mark the Jets continue to play like contenders, currently sitting tied with Dallas for first in the Central Division at 57 points.

The Jets now head home for one game on Sunday against the Coyotes and then embark on a five-game road trip.
