Breakout West - formally known as Western Canadian Music Week - is in full swing in Winnipeg. The music festival celebrates the best in Canadian music west of Ontario.

Every year it's in a different western Canadian city. This year it's right here in Winnipeg. The week culminates in the Western Canadian Music Awards, which are Sunday night (Oct 05) at the Club Regent Event Centre. Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM (Oct 04) Clasical music takes the centre stage with a sowcase being presented of nominated composers and performers at the University of Winnipeg in the Eckardt-Grammatté Hall.

One of the groups performing is Calgary's Juno ward winning New Music group Land's End Ensemble. Member John Lowry droped by the Classic 107 studio Saturday morning to talk with host Claudia Garcia de la Huerta.
