The Manitoba Liberal Party announced over the weekend if elected this fall, they will support the province's creative industries and sports organizations.

This includes increasing funding to the Manitoba Arts Council by $20 million and increasing support to Sports Manitoba.

“These are some of the most important cultural institutions in Manitoba – the ones we love. Yet for years – and often for decades, there has been no increase in operating funding under the NDP and the PCs alike,” said Liberal Leader Dougald Lamont. “Manitoba Liberals are the only party committing to making sure that we will support and foster the next generation of athletes and artists, as well as ensuring long-term funding to sustain the arts we love for the future.”

Lamont says we have incredible organizations in Winnipeg that other cities and provinces don't have.

"It's an important industry, and we don't want these places going dark."
