A 26-year-old Winnipeg man is in custody after an alleged sexual assault in downtown Winnipeg in broad daylight.

On Friday, June 23, 2023, at around 4:00 p.m., Winnipeg Police were flagged down by a woman who had just been touched in an unwanted sexual manner by an unknown man.

Police say a 33-year-old woman was approached by a male selling chocolate. After she declined to purchase, the man allegedly made an inappropriate comment, at which time a sexual assault occurred.

Foot Patrol members continued the investigation, quickly identifying and locating the suspect in the Graham Avenue and Donald Street area.

25-year-old Ermiyas Isaac Dangerfield of Winnipeg has been charged with sexual assault. 

He was detained in custody.
