The province's latest spike in cases is seeing the highest single-day count on record.

Health officals say 602 more COVID-19 infections have been found, bringing the total number of active cases to 4,659. Most of the new cases are from Winnipeg, with a recent spike in Southern Health.

New cases include:

  • 20 cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region
  • 36 cases in the Northern health region
  • 41 cases in the Prairie Mountain health region
  • 97 cases in the Southern Healthؘ–Santé Sud health region
  • 409 cases in the Winnipeg health region

After removing one case due to a data correction, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Manitoba is 46,916 with 41,238 of those being recovered.

Manitoba's five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 13.8 per cent, and Winnipeg's is 15.3 per cent. On Wednesday, 3,619 laboratory tests were completed, bringing the total number of completed tests to 735,315 as of February 2020.

Three more people have died of the virus as of Thursday including:

  • a female in her 40s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the B.1.1.7 variant of concern
  • a male in his 50s from the Winnipeg health region
  • a male in his 70s from Southern Health–Santé Sud, linked to the B.1.1.7 variant of concern

The total number of COVID-19 related deaths is 1,019.

There are a total of 291 people in the hospital due to the virus, with  232 people in the hospital with active cases. In ICU, there are 76 people, including 56 with active cases. Three Manitobans are being treated in Thunder Bay, as Manitoban hospitals have run out of room.
