The Manitoba Government is encouraging Manitobans to embrace the great outdoors this weekend.

From June 7 through June 9, the Manitoba government is offering free park access and free family fishing.

Throughout the weekend, anglers can fish without a licence, except in national parks where a federal licence is still required. All other rules and regulations, including size limits, still apply.

At Whiteshell Provincial Park, park interpreters will be offering guided tours of the Whiteshell Fish Hatchery, allowing visitors the opportunity to learn how provincial fisheries staff raise a variety of species, receive an in-depth history of how fish stocking has evolved over the years and view hundreds of thousands of trout in outdoor tanks.

Vehicle permits will also not be required to visit provincial parks from June 7 through June 9. However, regular camping fees will still apply at provincial campgrounds.

Before heading out, park visitors are encouraged to check provincial park conditions, as there may be temporary closures or advisories.
