A licensed massage therapist is facing the consequences of his inappropriate actions during an appointment with a young adult female.

This afternoon the Winnipeg Police Service made it known that the Sex Crimes Unit has begun an investigation of a sexual assault report which occurred during a massage therapy appointment.

The statement says that investigators learned that the female victim, who is in her twenties, attended an appointment on October 8 at a licensed massage therapy business in the 2000 block of Portage Avenue.

It was during the appointment that the therapist "spoke to her using sexually explicit language and touched her body in an unwanted manner."

The victim reported the assault to the business and to the police. She did not receive any physical injuries during the incident.

A 34-year-old male was arrested and is facing a charge of sexual assault. As mandated by the Criminal Code, he was released on an Undertaking.

The accused was dismissed and is no longer employed at the business.

The Sex Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate.
