Several businesses along McPhillips Street are cleaning up a mess after a water main break flooded their shops over the weekend.

Water began spewing out of a leak on Mcphillips Street at Church Avenue at around 1 p.m. Sunday, quickly turning the busy stretch of road into a lake.

Before crews could get it under control, it had flooded a nearby strip mall, with some businesses seeing knee-deep water.

City crews spent much of the day yesterday cleaning up the mess. Today, the city will begin repairs.

As a result, the northbound curb and middle lanes are closed. Delays are expected in the area.
