A variety of story-tellers took the stage at the Manitoba Theatre for Young People to bring awareness to World Water Day, which took place on March 22, 2015.

The event was organized in conjunction with the Matlock Festival, which takes place in the fall every year. The Matlock Festival's mission is to raise awareness of the deteriorating condition of Lake Winnipeg and the preservation and improvement of wildlife and nature in Manitoba.

"We're all choosing water themes," performer Rob Malow - who goes under the name TiBert le Voyageur - said. "Just talking about how water affects us in different ways but in a story-teller medium. Every story is it's own stand alone piece, but water is what ties us together in real life and in our stories."

Sue Proctor is also a performer under the guise of her character, Agnes the clown. She's also heavily involved with the Matlock Festival.

"A lot of the festival is bringing awareness to the environment," Proctor said "And it has wetlands and meadows and a forest and it has paths all the way through, right on the shore of the lake. It's just beautiful and you realize just how vital that is to our well-being."

This year's Matlock Festival runs from Aug. 28-30. For more information you can visit their website.
