Bob Hessler and his daughter enjoyed a Wild win and mini donuts courtesy of a friendly Jets fan. (Bob Hessler)The on-ice rivalry between the Minnesota Wild and the Winnipeg Jets doesn't extend to the stands, as one Minnesotan recently found out.

Bob Hessler, a Minnesota Wild season ticket holder, showed up early for game 3 in St. Paul, MN with his daughter. She wanted to watch the warm up, so they left their seats and went down to the first row to get closer to the action.

That's when the friendly rivalry began, he said.

"Three Jets fans come strolling down the aisle chanting 'go Jets go,'" Hessler recalled. He introduced himself and two of the Jets fans started talking to him. Hessler said one was wearing a white fedora and the other was wearing what he described as a 'white crash helmet'. Lots of Wild fans were taking pictures with him.

While they were talking about the snow storm and the trip to St. Paul, the third Jets fan went to talk so some of the kids watching the game.

"He says 'I'll buy you guys popcorn, candy, whatever you want, as long as you cheer for the Jets," Hessler laughed. He said the Jets fan then covered his face with white paint and the kids all started laughing as he explained the whiteout to them.

It was at that point that Hessler said one of the Jets fans, Jason Langlois, called the mini donut lady over and bought around 10 bags, before handing them out to kids. When he ran out of bags, Hessler said he asked for more.

"He said 'I'll tell you what, I want you to go up and grab 10 more bags and I trust you to hand them out to kids,'" Hessler said."He said it's all about the kids."

Then he paid the vendor and gave her a $40 tip on top of the $150+ mini donut tab. The vendor said she had just been yelled at by someone, and that this fan had just made her day.

"It was a fun experience for all the kids, parents, families," Hessler said. "Couldn't have run into nicer guys."

Hessler said it was a great way for the youth to learn that people wearing different jerseys are still awesome. He hopes to make it up to Winnipeg for a game and do something similar for fans at Bell MTS Place.

"You get to celebrate with 19,000 other hockey fans, and I think that's the key," he explained.

As for the series that the Jets currently lead 3-1, Hessler really wants Minnesota to win but thinks that the Jets will pull it off.

"The Jets have a special team."

Game five is Friday in Winnipeg.
