The JUNOs are in Winnipeg this weekend. Morning Light host Michael Wolch had a chance to speak to violinist James Ehnes from his home in Florida who's up for two JUNOs!

James' Prokofiev 2CD set (Chandos) is nominated in the category of Classical Album of the Year: Solo or Chamber Ensemble and his recording of concertos by Britten and Shostakovich (Onyx Classics) is nominated in the category of Classical Album of the Year: Large Ensemble or Soloist(s) with Large Ensemble Accompaniment.

The JUNOS will be handed out in ceremonies this Saturday and Sunday night here in Winnipeg. Classic 107 will be there and bringing you news from all the events!

And don't forget about the 6th annual JUNO classical music showcase hapening this Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the University of Winnipeg.  Classic 107 has partnered with the JUNOS to bring you performances from artists like pianist Stewart goodyear, singer Isabele Bayrakdarian, members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Lands End Ensenble and the Antiphony Ensemble just to name a few.
