An elderly woman is back home safe and sound after going missing on Tuesday.

Police had sent out a silver alert for a missing 81-year-old woman just before midnight on Tuesday evening. The woman had last been seen in the Booth area of Winnipeg earlier in the day around 4:30 p.m.

Approximately one hour after sending out the alert the WPS then notified the media that the woman had been safely located.

A silver alert is issued when a vulnerable person or another adult with a cognitive impairment goes missing in an effort to safely recover the adult. It was the second silver alert issued by police in five days, and both had happy endings.
