Thompson RCMP are investigating after a woman who went missing from Tataskweyak Cree Nation was found dead.

On September 30, RCMP say they received a report that a 41-year woman was missing. She was last seen on September 27.

Police say she had been shopping in Thompson, got a ride back towards Tataskweyak Cree Nation, and was dropped off approximately one kilometre outside the community, where she walked home through the woods.

Officers conducted patrols in Thompson and in the area where investigators had been told the female was dropped off.

The following day, a search was conducted in the wooded area surrounding the community where the female was found deceased.
RCMP are awaiting autopsy results.

The investigation is ongoing.
