A 44-year-old man is in police custody after police allege he robbed a bank in Grunthal, Man. on Wednesday and then attempted to rob another in Steinbach on Thursday.

St. Pierre RCMP were first called Wednesday around 10:30 a.m. to a bank robbery on Main Street in Grunthal.

Police say investigators determined that a lone male entered the bank and demanded money while making threats towards the employees. Following the robbery, it is believed the suspect then fled in a vehicle.

Twenty-five hours later, Steinbach RCMP were called to an attempted bank robbery on Main Street in that community. Officers responded quickly, but the suspect had already fled by the time they arrived.

Police identified Kendall Raike as the suspect in both cases and had sent out an alert asking for help in locating him.

Around 7:10 p.m. on Thursday the RCMP confirmed that Raike had been safely taken into custody.

The RCMP continues to investigate, and there is no word on the charges Raike is facing at this time.
