Today is Human Rights Day. To commemorate the day Juan Diego Flórez, who is also UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador, will be singing with South African soprano Pretty Yende, Egyptian soprano Fatma Said and Russian bass Sergey Artamonov.

Mr Florez and will also deliver a short speech.

Spanish conductor Pablo Mielgo will head the Harmonia Symphony Orchestra, made up mostly by young musicians who take part in projects using music as a tool for the development of children and youth social integration.

The concert, will be broadcast both live and on-demand to the 58 countries members of the EBU-EUROVISION, with the collaboration of TVE. It will be later broadcast worldwide and released on DVD.

The live concert starts at 6.30 pm local time and will take place at the Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room at the United Nations Palace in Geneva.

Here in Winnipeg, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights  is commemorating International Human Rights Day by waiving admission fees for the entire day and extending their hours to 9:00 PM tonight. There will also be special activiteis throughout the day.
