Winnipeg police are looking to identify a man who may have information on an incident that happened earlier this month.

Shortly after 10 p.m. on Dec. 1, Winnipeg police were called to the St. Vital Bridge for the report of an unresponsive male lying on the sidewalk.

The man was transported to hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead. He has since been identified as a 63-year-old male, and his family notifications have been made.

Police are now looking for a man who was with the 63-year-old earlier in the evening.

Investigators determined that the 63-year-old was at an establishment in the 700 block of Osborne Street North with a group of people. At around 8:30 p.m., the man left the business in the company of an unidentified patron described as a white male between 50-60 years old with a beard, and long light brown/grey hair. He was wearing a light-coloured shoulder satchel, a flat cap and glasses.

Investigators would like to speak with this male as he is believed to have information regarding the circumstances surrounding the death of the 63-year-old male.

Anyone who was walking in the area and has information that may assist investigators or video surveillance is asked to call the Major Crimes Unit at 204-986-6219, Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS, or online at winnipegcrimestoppers.org
