A rainfall warning is in effect ahead of the arrival of a Colorado low that's expected to impact the City of Winnipeg and other areas Friday afternoon.

Heavy rainfall is expected for Winnipeg, as well as Portage la Prairie, Carman, Dugald, Grand Beach, Winkler and the Pembina Valley, Steinbach, Nopiming Provincial Park, the Whiteshell and Sprague.

According to Environment Canada, the ground is already near saturation and has little ability to absorb further rainfall.

An additional 20-50 mm of rain will begin Friday night in southern Manitoba as the third major low-pressure system in as many weeks impacts southern Manitoba.

Rain will lift northwards into the province on Friday night, bringing 20 to 50 mm of rain over the following 24-36 hours. Like the previous storm, embedded thunderstorms are also possible and could bring high rainfall rates to the region.
