Continuing a yearly tradition, the RWB will be performing some wonderful works at Ballet in The Park. Artistic Director André Lewis will provide us with more details about the exciting shows.

It’s time to come together for one of Winnipeg’s favourite summer activities! Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet invites everyone to Ballet In The Park, at the Lyric Theatre stage at 7:30 pm nightly from July 26 - 28, 2017. Presented by Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, Ballet In The Park is a great way to experience ballet. A tradition since the early 1970s, this FREE family–friendly event attracts more than 20,000 people annually, from Winnipeg and beyond. Sitting on a lawn chair or blanket on the grass, this is a relaxed way to take in ballet with your family and friends. For many who have never seen ballet, this is a great introduction to the art form in a picturesque setting.

The RWB School’s Professional Division students will be performing a pas de trois performance of The Fairy Doll and the Recreational Division students will be treating the audience to a Grease medley.

The Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company Dancers will be performing Lila York’s Celts.Choreographed in 1995, the year before the Riverdance phenomenon hit North America, Celts is an exuberant fusion of ballet, modern, classical, and Irish folk dance set to the music of pulse pounding and foot stomping rhythms of Celtic music. The inspired choreography showcases ensemble pieces and energetic solos. The ballet springs to life with a pastiche score by The Chieftains, Mason Daring, William J. Ruyle, Bill Whelan and Celtic Thunder.

Cancellations due to inclement weather will be issued by local radio stations as well as on the RWB website at www.rwb.org. Patrons may also contact the RWB reception desk for cancellation information at (204) 956-0183.
