The Royal Winnipeg Ballet recently announced their milestone 85th season.

The 2024/25 program celebrates the company’s storied history through iconic classics and anticipates its exciting future through newer works and a Canadian premiere.

“It’s always fun to share with everybody what we’re planning,” says Vanessa Léonard, the Anna McCowan-Johnson Aspirant Program Director.

The longtime principal dancer still gets excited when upcoming programs are revealed.

“There are some beautiful, wonderful ballets on the list,” she says. “I think it’s going to be a really great year.”

A quintessential Romantic ballet opens the run, as Giselle returns to the Centennial Concert Hall – November 7-10,2024.

Not coming as any surprise, the beloved Nutcracker production takes place from December 20-28, 2024.

In the new year, audiences will have the opportunity to experience a Canadian premiere: Val Caniparoli’s Jekyll & Hyde, March 6-10, 2025.

A mixed repertoire program – Bolero with Angels in the Architecture and Hikarizatto – concludes the formal season with works by Mark Godden and Itzik Galili getting fresh looks. Plus, the mainstage debut of Stephane Azulay – current soloist and burgeoning choreographer – May 1-4, 2025.

In May, Spotlight (May 22-24, 2025) shines a light on students in the Professional Division before the rising stars return with On the Edge (June 4-6, 2025).
