It's almost the first day of Spring!

Sunday March 20th is the first day of Spring! Finally, we are ready to turn the corner on Winter for another year. Ok, we have been blessed with a fairly mild winter, but I don't think I am alone in my desire to see green grass, feel the heat of the sun, see the canopy of trees across this beautiful city and shed all these coats, sweaters and boots! I could go on about Spring and Summer, but let me tell you what is in store for this segment of the Wide World of Classical Music.

I was curious about who were the Top 10 composers of all time. I have my own ideas, but I decided to search around the internet and see what various individuals and reliable classical sites had to offer. So, I compiled a list from the lists, and will dedicate 2 hours to those composers. It is all, of course, up for debate, but it was fun to see just how different some of the lists were. Send me your list if you want: mwolch@goldenwestradio.com

Modern Classical music tends to get a bad rap. It is often referred to as atonal, brash, incomprehensible, jarring and many other choice words. But, tune in at 3:00 and I will play you some beautiful modern Classical music, like this:

Philip Glass: String Quartet #3

To ring in Spring: Strauss - Voices of Spring

Hope you can join me this Saturday on the Wide World of Classical Music!
