It's time for another journey on The Wide World of Classical Music. Join host Michael Wolch from noon - 6:00pm for a curated selection of Classics, Pops, Film music and much more.

It's always fun for me to put together this show every weekend, and sometimes I welcome input and inspiration from various sources. This weekend's show was partly inspired by my son, who is 17 years old, and a huge afficionado of Video Game music. As you may or may not know, I never really got beyond the Atari game console, and much preferred to be outside playing with my friends (that will give you a hint to my age), but it is hard to deny that video games are a huge influence on the younger generation, including my son.

The saving grace for me, as I try to come to terms with this, is that he is really into the amazing music composed for the games. This music is so popular that famous symphonies around the world often do whole evenings dedicated to the scores. Almost every day my son regales me with new video game music and gets my opinion, do I think it is good enough and appropriate to play on my show? It's fun to share a love of music with him, and I am open to all styles, so I asked him to program an hour of music, from the selections that I thought would work for the show, and I will be playing them for you from 2:00 - 3:00. You may be surprised at how good the music is!

To follow that hour up I decided to program some Sci-Fi film music and another hour of Epic film scores. We will also do some Afternoon Classics, Pops and Powerful Classics. It is going to be a fun show, so please check it out, beginning at noon Saturday.
