Winnipeg drivers are reminded to take it easy as school zone speed limits come back into effect on September 1.

While kids don't begin the return to the classroom until next week school zone speed limits begin at 7 a.m. on September 1.

The Winnipeg Police Service says that photo enforcement vehicles will be out in school zones today.

School zones are marked with a yellow sign on top of a white sign showing a speed limit of 30 km/h. The reduced speed is in effect from 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday - Friday and remains in effect through the end of June.

Going 15 km/h over the speed limit in a school zone will cost you $250, according to the WPS.
