A 73-year-old woman is recovering after being threatened with a knife in a late-night home invasion earlier this week.

The RCMP says that on August 6, 2022, just before midnight, the Selkirk Division received a report of a home invasion at a residence located on Cil Road in the R.M. of St Clements.

The report says that the 911 call taker reported hearing a voice demanding car keys before the call was disconnected.

The 73-year-old female victim recalls that there was only one suspect who held a knife that had entered her home and demanded the keys to the vehicle and fled the scene.

It is stated that officers found an abandoned vehicle nearby and were able to track the suspect and stolen vehicle to a nearby business in the R.M. of St. Paul.

43-year-old Blake Andrew Morris from Winnipeg was arrested for Break and Entering and Possession of Stolen Property. He was taken into custody and released the next day by a Justice of the Peace for court scheduled on August 26 in Selkirk where he will face the following charges:

  • Assault
  • Break and Enter
  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle
  • Possess Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Robbery with a Weapon
  • and Mischief over $5000.00.

Selkirk RCMP continues to investigate.
